Rates & Prices

Non-broadcast

Non-broadcast recordings are always considered to be bought for use in-perpetuity. They can only be used in the predetermined media source (e.g. audiobook).

Additional rates would apply if used in a different media source.

Other examples include: tutorial walkthroughs, reenactment dialogue…typically anything someone could pause and go back to listen to again.

Add-ons & Fees

Every project is a little different and every client has different needs. To keep things simple and flexible, my rates are flat. However, additional fees and add-ons are required depending on a variety of circumstances.

Studio & Servicing

If I’m recording in a professional studio, a $100 studio fee is added to the quoted price to cover parking, gas, and commute time. An additional $100 studio fee will be applied to the quoted price for every trip required to the studio thereafter.

If I’m recording at home, a $250 servicing fee is added to the quoted price to cover editing, uploading, and basic post-production and file management. Similar to a studio fee, an additional (discounted) servicing fee of $100 will be applied to every additional recording or re-recording.

Renewals

Renewals are easy and only require a renewal fee discounted by 10% of the original quote. The price would change if the finished length or airing duration differ from the original agreement.

To purchase rights for a different broadcast media source, in addition to the original predetermined media source, a new contract must be signed.

Renewal fees do not apply to non-broadcast recordings. To purchase rights to use a non-broadcast recording in a different non-broadcast media source, a new contract will need to be signed.

Exclusivity

Please make clear any exclusivity rights you or your client wish to retain. Without exclusivity rights, I will be able to record voiceovers for brands or companies that may be considered competitors.

To retain exclusivity for one year, an exclusivity fee equal to 75% of the quoted price will be added to the total cost of the job. To retain exclusivity for a second year, an additional fee would be added at 50% of the quoted price. A third year of exclusivity would be an additional 25% of the quoted price. Exclusivity rights can only be bought for a maximum of three years.

Overshot

If the finished length or the airing duration of a recording ends up being longer than the originally agreed-to length, an overshot fee equal to the difference between the original rate and the rate for the new length or airing duration is required. No other additional penalty fees are applied.

e.g. if a client uses 12 minutes of a recording when the length agreed upon originally was 5–10 minutes, an additional $250 would be owed (the difference between $1,000 and $1,250).
